Resuscitation training courses includes all responses necessary to deal with sudden and often life threatening events affecting the cardiovascular (heart), cerebrovascular (brain) and pulmonary (lungs) systems.
Each course includes specific education in:
- Recognition of early warning signs of heart attack and stroke
- Accessing the emergency response system – calling 9-1-1
- Provision of early Basic Life Support (BLS) including CPR and defibrillation
- Provision of Advanced Cardiac Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Transfer of the patient to a hospital where definitive care can be provided
There are different types of training courses but one level is not “better” or “higher” than another. Rather, each has a target audience with specific goals and objectives with varying degrees of skills and knowledge required.
